Our washing machine was broken and all I wanted in the entire world was a new one. So tired of hauling the laundry off to the creepy laundromat to wash. So hubs surprised me with a glorious new one. As it was being delivered our nosy neighbor came by to chat. His direct quote to us was "my wife would kick my @ss if I got her something like that!"
Idiot.
I love my washing machine just as much 10 years later.
Neighbor... divorced.
Perhaps he had more problems than washing machines.

The most crazy Valentine's Day gift I ever received was simply the best one! My hubby knew I always wanted a puppy, cause I had talked about it for so long! Well, here he shows up with 2 puppies, one under each arm! Each had a bright red ribbon around their neck. Needless to say, I was smiling ear to ear!!

Happy Valentines Day!
Thanks for the great giveaway!

There was a point in my life where I dated a marine biologist. He was an odd duck, even by my loose standards, but it wasn't until Valentine's Day that I realized just how deep I was in. Apropos of absolutely nothing, he gave me a dead squid in a canning jar filled with formaldehyde. My reactions to this offering are best summarized in the following haiku:

Weird I can handle
But gift-wrapping a dead squid?
That is just messed up.

I guess I have 2 valentines presents... a nice gift I gave, and one that was perhaps not so nice, though it was certainly necessary...

When I was about 17 I made this incredible heart mobile creating thing out of salt dough, with I then painted. It was really awesome, lots of hearts, colors and different colored wires.

On Feb 14th 2007 I filed for divorce after over 20 years of marriage. I didn't really plan it that way, but what can I say. I did everything I could to save our marriage, and he went and got a new girlfriend. I'm much happier now.

I wish I had something truly awesome to tell everyone; but, the best part of Valentine's Day is my husband wishing me a Happy Day as we go off to work.

Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zip.

My ex-boyfriend decided not to celebrate Valentine's Day, Christmas, my birthday or any other occasion that meant he may have to spend money. Did anyone notice I said "ex-boyfriend"? ;)

My ex-husband was a horrible gift-giver (one of the many reasons he is my ex). One Valentine's Day he must have been feeling guilty for not getting me something and came home with a bag of "presents" from the local CVS drugstore: a pack of cigarettes, a bag of M&M's, a pen, a magazine and the best..a Q-Bert puzzle (and I don't even like puzzles).

I think the best thing I ever receive on Valentine's Day was a box of homemade sweets from my mom. I was far away and just having a hard time with life and the fact that she took time to make the goodies and write me a lovely letter meant a lot. :)

The best Valentines gift I've ever received was a heart my husband made out of this indestructible decking where he wrote, "My heart comes with a lifetime guarantee!"

When I moved in with my hubby the oven didn't work. I lived there for a few months and no oven. So on Valentine's I get home and my gift was that he got the oven fixed. Now I don't know if that was the worse or the best present I ever got because on one hand it was sweet but damn I wanted chocolate. hee

Well, probably my worst Valentine's Day came when I was in the 6th grade and had my first "boyfriend." I say "boyfriend" because, well, we were kids. He was my boyfriend in title only. On Valentine's Day he gave me a heart-shaped box filled with chocolates. A really big box! My mother was pretty active in the school I attended and so I couldn't hide it from her. I had never told her about my "boyfriend" before that and after that date she teased me mercilessly about him. It was awful. I ended up breaking up with that boy a few weeks later because I couldn't deal with the torment anymore. All because he had been nice enough to buy me a present!

Thanks for the giveaway!
Generally we like to fob V-day off as a commercial moneypit (it's nice to think, if you're in a relationship, that everyday is Valentine's day!) but still occasionally manage to use it as a very handy excuse to make purchases that might otherwise be unnecessary!

best surprise on valentines was a dozen roses and a teddy bear delivered at my high school when i was in grade 10 from a guy i just started dating a week before. it was so sweet and unexpected.

Valentines day is completely bittersweet for me - it was the day I lost my firstborn to late term miscarriage and the day my partner stepped up and became the man of my dreams. He was there for me - despite his complete bewilderment - cups of tea, a back rub and a huge bunch of daisies. We now have a beauitful 12 year old son. The necklace is lovelu

Gosh I feel kind of sad now, as I can say that no valentines day sticks out in my memory, in fact I am trying really to hard to even remember ever receiving something! That might be cause I make a song and dance about wasting money on the day - hmmm I might have to change that now, reading some of the lovely things others have gotten :)

The most fabulous and special Valentines day gift I ever received was a pair of Tiffany earrings. Now it wasnt the gift that was fabulous it was how proud hubby was (boyfriend at the time) when he gave them to me. He had gone to so much trouble to choose them, buy them and hide them from me until Valentines day. He then presented them to me, with an expression I only wished I had captured on camera. He is my high school sweetheart and I love him more today (15 years on) than ever.

Boy I hope he doesnt read this he will need a bucket!

I was only just dating my now husband (and so he didn't know me all that well) and for Valentines day he bought me underwear - a tank top and g-string that had little strawberry motifs on them and "scratch & sniff" written underneath...truly the WORST present ever!! He hasn't bought me underwear ever again, 8 years later!

Before my husband was my husband he organised a widly romantic picnic by the bay with a romantic movie afterwards. Problem was we endured quite a bad summer storm during hte picnic and went to the movies wet! We don't really do much to celebrate now, but I was planning on a date night this year,

What a wonderful giveaway. Unfortunately we don't tend to celebrate V Day with exciting pressies. We often get take away and have a picnic with the kids :)

My ex gave me for valentines day the most horrid necklace.

It was gold, I don't wear gold
It was cheap and would get tarnished very quickly and my neck would get a red mark where it sat.
It was too small.
We had only been together a month (we broke up soon after I might add LOL) I don't know about you but you don't by your gf jewellery after being together a month!

I would have been happy with a stuffed bear lol.
